What Applier does with your Gmail
Applier sends introductions to hiring managers from your own Gmail, so replies come straight to you. Gmail is optional for applications: Applier gives you an application mailbox for employer email. You need Gmail only for introductions.
Use a Gmail just for job hunting
We recommend a Gmail you keep for job hunting: replies and verification codes stay out of your personal inbox, and heavy outreach stays off your main account. A personal Gmail works too; Applier labels job mail Applier and archives verification codes for you.
How it connects
- You create an app password named Applier in your Google account and paste its 16 letters into Applier. Google requires 2-Step Verification for app passwords, and work, school and Advanced Protection accounts may not offer them. Applier accepts @gmail.com addresses.
- Applier never asks for your Google password.
- Applier checks the app password by signing in to Gmail, then stores it encrypted.
- Applier uses the app password only for Gmail: IMAP to read mail and SMTP to send it.
- Connecting Gmail doesn't start sending. Introductions follow the outreach mode you choose; in Review, nothing is sent until you approve it.
What Applier does in your Gmail
Applier signs in to this Gmail with the app password, reads every email in it, stores replies to the introductions it sends, sends introductions for you, and labels or archives verification codes. It never deletes email. Delete the app password in your Google account to revoke access at any time.
If you also use this Gmail as your application inbox, Applier stores the emails sent to your +career address (a personal Gmail) or every email sent to the account (a Gmail just for job hunting).
Sending stays under Gmail's daily limit.
Disconnect or revoke access
- Disconnect Gmail in Settings: Applier deletes its stored app password and pauses introductions.
- Then remove the app password at myaccount.google.com/apppasswords. Changing your Google password also revokes every app password.
- Before deleting your Applier account, disconnect Gmail and remove the app password.
- When you delete your account, it's disabled, automation stops, and your data is scheduled for permanent deletion after a 30-day grace period. See the privacy policy.
